Are the laws different for same-sex marriages as compared to heterosexual marriages?
It wasn’t that long ago when same-sex marriages were not legal in the United States. However, as our same-sex family law lawyers from De Boef Lucchesi and Assoc., P.C. know all too well, the law can be confusing in many regards when it comes to marriages. The Legalization of Same-Sex Marriage in the United States
On June 26, 2015 the Supreme Court of the U.S. ruled in the case of Obergefell v. Hodges that same-sex couples have the right to marry on the same conditions and terms as opposite-sex couples as guaranteed by the Equal Protection Clause of the US Constitution’s 14th Amendment. With that ruling, because it was the Federal Supreme Court, which is the highest court in the land, same-sex marriage became legal in all 50 states. Since that time, our same-sex family law lawyers at De Boef Lucchesi and Assoc., P.C. have helped preserve the rights of same-sex spouses and fight for justice on their account.
